At Maiden Environmental Services, sustainability is not just a goal—it is a commitment we actively pursue through strategic partnerships and innovative solutions. One of our most impactful collaborations has been with Closing the Loop, a global organization dedicated to reducing electronic waste and promoting circularity in the tech industry.
Our journey with Closing the Loop began in 2021, when we came on board as local service providers in Ghana. Starting on a modest scale, our role focused on the collection, safe storage, and preparation of end-of-life mobile phones for export to certified recycling facilities. This initiative was designed to ensure that obsolete devices are handled responsibly, preventing harmful environmental and health impacts associated with improper e-waste disposal.
Over the years, this partnership has grown significantly in both scale and impact. By 2024, Maiden Environmental Services had successfully facilitated the export of over 1.5 million scrap mobile phones. These devices have since been processed and recycled through environmentally sound methods, contributing to the recovery of valuable materials and the reduction of electronic waste in landfills.
This milestone represents more than just numbers—it reflects the power of collaboration in addressing one of the world’s fastest-growing waste streams. Through this partnership, we have not only strengthened Ghana’s role in global e-waste management efforts but also contributed to job creation, environmental protection, and the advancement of a circular economy.
As we look ahead, Maiden Environmental Services remains committed to expanding our impact, deepening our partnerships, and continuing to drive sustainable solutions for a cleaner, healthier future.
